Google Phone Released into the wild

The Google Phone, or "G1" as it's being called was released today for T-Mobile.  It's looks may not be as sexy as the iPhone, but from videos I've seen it looks like a winner if your have everything set up with Google including your email, calendar, chatting, etc.  Many of the great features they have to offer seem to be dependent on an existing relationship you might already have with their online apps.

As rumored the phone has a flip out keyboard, as well as a full touch screen (and a good one from what the demos look like).

It's priced a bit high at $179 (just under the iPhone's price) but still not low enough to take away a large share of potential iPhone buyers.  The phone lacks a lot of things (including storage space) that the iPhone has, but surely a worthy competitor!

Your Birthday = Free Disneyland Entry

Disney has just launched a new marketing campaign "What will you celebrate" rewarding customers for their birthday!  On your anniversary of birth, you are rewarded with free entry into Disneyland!  It doesn't get any simpler than that.

Doesn't degrade the brand, yet a strong promotion!

"Genius" Feature in New iTunes 8.0...It's That Good!

Do you have iTunes? Have you downloaded the newest version that was released Tuesday? There is a new feature called, Genius. You can choose a song that you would like to listen to other like songs that are within your iTunes library, then with complex algorithms iTunes will VERY accurately choose similar songs (some of which you didn't even know you had, but pleasantly surprised you now do!)

I don't pretend to be an expert on how they make the algorithm, but what I do know is that your music and listening habits gets anonymously sent to Apple. The more people that "engage" in the Genius feature, the smarter the feature will get (and yes you have opt-in for the feature)!

In addition to making great playlists of songs you already own, it makes some damn good suggestions for music to purchase in regards to any song you select. I've quickly burned through some money just in the first couple of minutes using the tool.

If your familiar with Pandora, then you in many ways already understand the Genius feature...but it features music you own!

Dell competes with MacBook Air

8.9-inch, 2.28, 1.6GHz, 16GB solid-state drive, with built in webcam is what you can expect (along with more) from Dell's new Inspiron Mini 9.

While I wouldn't exactly call it a MacBook Air...it is quite a bit cheaper at $350 - $450, and is a very small machine!

Jerry Seinfeld & Bill Gates featured in Microsoft's latest attempt in humor

The highly speculated Microsoft advertisement, which stars Jerry Seinfeld (for $10 mill) and Bill Gates has hit the airwaves tonight.

Microsoft has an extremely offbeat sense of humor. I thought this was going to be, "the one." I thought it was going to be the advertisement in which they finally got it right! Instead the humor is the farthest fetched and bland yet, in addition it doesn't actually speak to any of their products or offerings.

Am I the only one with this feeling or opinion? No, it's YouTube rating is 2 of 5 stars, and has some fired up comments to compliment the rating!
